Abstract

Bolivia has witnessed one of the few known phytosanitary emergencies in February, such as the locust plague, which has affected agricultural crops in four municipalities in the department of Santa Cruz. The State’s response to this pest was the immediate issuance of Supreme Decree No. 3081, which authorized the transfer of economic resources from the Ministry of Economy and Public Finance to the Ministry of Rural Development and Lands for the implementation of the plan. Phytosanitary emergency. In parallel with the implementation of this emergency plan, the financing of a national lobster control program has been developed and achieved. This review of primary and secondary information on lobsters reveals that Bolivia with the political will and the joint effort of public and private institutions, more than the knowledge and experience of its technicians, has managed to control the pest in 90%, However, even in the field is the pest in its different stages, therefore, the national control program of the flying lobster to be implemented in the coming months by the SENASAG, will continue the work of control in the next five years. However, the strategy and control methods, in particular, should be with the integrated pest management (IPM) approach.
