Data collection is essential to fulfill the objectives of the research work. Data as primary elements of information by themselves are irrelevant for decision making, they must be stored in some physical place such as a paper, an electronic device, or in the mind of a person. They can come from sources external or internal to the organization and can be objective, subjective, or according to their nature can be qualitative, quantitative, or dual-state (binary). Data are transformed into information by adding value under the following criteria: contextualizing, categorizing, calculating, correcting, and condensing (summarizing).
